We are looking for a motived Senior Technical Writer to join our team. You will work as a key member of the Operational Publications team designing, developing, producing and distributing NAV CANADA’s operational publications used nationwide.

This position requires a person with excellent technical communication skills who can work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.. The ideal candidate will be passionate about information architecture, content development and advanced publishing technologies to produce high-quality publications.

Accountabilities

• Re-engineering a variety of publications—in consultation with operational personnel, training specialists, on-the-job instructors, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.
• Migrating content from unstructured source material to a DITA-based XML format
• Participating in an iterative, cross-functional content development workflow to ensure stakeholder requirements are met.
• Working with leading-edge tools to produce accurate and engaging information products, while ensuring that content complies with industry-standard editorial conventions, structured templates, and international best practices.
• Preparing, posting, and maintaining information on the corporate intranet and the outward-facing extranet to share in-progress and final content and obtain reviews and feedback

Education

• A Bachelor-level degree or equivalent training and experience that demonstrates proficiency in technical communications.

Experience

• Experience with structured XML authoring tools such as Adobe FrameMaker
• Experience in the visual design of technical information
• Experience in the latest best-practices and standards of project management
• Experience in Information architecture and the ability to employ current theories and principles.
• Experience in information development for modern multimedia distribution
• Experience in training methodologies including the development and presentation of workshops and computer-based assistances.
