We are seeking a Senior Network Architect who is highly motivated and who has a degree from a university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer science, or information systems.

As a Senior Network Architect you will ensure that the telecommunications systems not only meet the operational and business requirements but are specified, selected and verified to meet safety requirements by ensuring continuous, uninterrupted service to our customers.

You will participate as a member of project teams in the planning and implementation of engineering projects of major complexity and/or plans and leads assigned projects of moderate to high complexity, in the field of telecommunications network design and architecture. Areas of responsibility include: requirements analysis and requirements coordination, impact assessments, system design, system performance, system integration, system safety, system security design and participation in strategic system enhancement planning.

Education

• Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical or systems engineering, computer science or information systems.

Experience

• Extensive experience in the planning, technical architecture design and implementation of telecommunications network systems (Cisco switching, routing & firewall technology).
• Experience in the implementation and support of high availability environments.
• Experience in the development of specifications, standards and procedures.
• Experience in project management, establishing contracts and monitoring contractor performance.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of WAN technologies, routing protocols, IP networking, TCP/IP protocol suite and layer 2/3 architecture, communication standards and protocols;
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of Cisco technologies, network security, voice and data telecommunications and computer systems;
• Advanced knowledge in complex network infrastructure (i.e. routers, switches, gateway, firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancing, ACL and VPN technologies).
• Knowledge of network architecture design and testing methodologies and processes from preliminary design to testing and acceptance;

Abilities

• Ability to plan, conduct and/or review comprehensive studies, to prepare and/or review reports on specific aspects of unusual problems with existing or proposed operations or facilities.
• Ability to write specification, standards, statements of work and general engineering documents.
• Ability to analyze, investigate, evaluate, make recommendations, decisions and implement solutions.
• Ability to lead a small team and work in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Have Initiative, good judgement, innovative, analytical thinker and problem solver.
